Let's Dance - TMTA

Let's dance is the topic at TMTA this week and one man is coming in my mind when thinking about dance is Fred Astaire.

These ATCs are made with the same background technique as my ATC yesterday from my "Saying of the week". It's inspired by one technique of Tim Holtz he described in his new book.
The paper is covered with Distress ink and sprinkled with waterdrops. Or one stamp is sprayed with water and with this you stamp on the tinted paper. I've suck up the water and colour with a dry towel from the paper. So you see the white of the paper.
I've took special paper for this technique which you get normally for the Encaustic technique. It's very smooth but tight and has a mat surface. This technique is very effective with this kind of paper because you suck up the whole colour with the water and you see the white colour.

Some words about the new book of Tim Holtz. I've got my one with a personal dedication at a german scrapbook shop where he was at his trip through Germany. In principle it's a catalogue for sales promotion. It's nothing new for this people who are following his blog.
In the first part he descripes all his products and shows some examples what you can do with them.
In the second part he shows some techniques.
Nevertheless I'm  glad I've buyed it. Every time I've flipped through the pages of this book I'd the strong feeling to experiment with his things and techniques. It's a good, creative feeling.
In addition I'm glad I got some techniques in this book and must not go for every technique on his blog.

  4. What fabulous cards! Yes, I think of Fred Astaire, too when I hear the word dance. Those of us who grew up in the era of "musicals" will never forget his fantastic dancing talents. Thanks for the note about how you did your Tim Holtz-type background. I don't think I have the correct paper, but I will look to see.

  8. Those are both great ATCs! I just look at the girl that is dancing with Fred (is that Ginger?) and think that her feet must have really hurt with those shoes on.
